System requirements for 200.6

This page lists system requirements for the 200.6 release of ArcGIS Maps SDK for Kotlin.

Supported operating systems for development

The operating systems that ArcGIS Maps SDK for Kotlin supports are the same as those listed for the Android SDK developed by Google. Generally, development is supported on Apple macOS (Intel), Linux, and Windows-based operating systems. Refer to Android Studio documentation for specific operating system versions that are supported.

Deploying your apps

Your apps can run on Android phones and tablets that have Android versions in the following range:

  • Minimum supported version: Android 8.0 (API level 26)
  • Maximum supported version: Android 15 (API level 35) . Non-16KB Memory Page Size devices/emulators.

The following architectures are supported:

  • armeabi-v7a
  • arm64-v8a
  • x86-64

For additional information, see Reduce your APK size.

IDEs

Android Studio

Esri supports and recommends the use of

Android Studio

(latest stable release) for development of apps that use ArcGIS Maps SDK for Kotlin, as this is the IDE officially supported by Google for Android development.

For recommended settings to use in Android Studio, see Install and set up page.

IntelliJ IDEA

IntelliJ IDEA is the IDE upon which Android Studio is based. However, IntelliJ IDEA comes bundled with an Android plugin and supports Android Gradle based build system so you can work directly with ArcGIS Maps SDK for Kotlin in IntelliJ IDEA. Read more about support for Android development in IntelliJ IDEA.

Android SDK support

The

Android SDK Tools

are required for development with the ArcGIS Maps SDK for Kotlin. This component is included with

Android Studio

. If you are developing with a different IDE you may need to install and set up these tools manually.

Android NDK version

ArcGIS Maps SDK for Kotlin contains native libraries compiled with

Android NDK

version r26.

OpenGL ES

ArcGIS Maps SDK for Kotlin uses OpenGL ES technology on Android to render 2D map views and 3D scene views. Rendering in a map view uses OpenGL ES 3.0 or above if available on the device. Otherwise it uses OpenGL ES 2.0 or above. Rendering in a scene view requires OpenGL ES 3.2.

You may need to configure graphics acceleration when using an Android emulator. For more information, see the document Configure hardware acceleration for the Android Emulator.

OpenGL ES 3.0 for geoanalysis

OpenGL ES 3.0 or above is required if you are using the geoanalysis tools. These analysis classes primarily perform work on the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU).

Apps built with ArcGIS Maps SDK for Kotlin can be deployed to a wide variety of hardware that meet the software system requirements. The table below outlines the minimum recommended hardware to achieve good performance on Android devices.

HardwareMinimum Recommended
Processor
  • Maps (2D): 6 core processors belonging to the Qualcomm Snapdragon, Samsung Exynos, Google Tensor, Mediatek Dimensity series
  • Scenes (3D): 8 core processors belonging to the Qualcomm Snapdragon, Samsung Exynos, Google Tensor, Mediatek Dimensity series
  • RAM
  • Maps (2D): 3GB
  • Scenes (3D): 4GB
  • GPU
  • Adreno 620 or Mali G57 equivalent
  • ArcGIS software and connected services

Use this table to determine the lowest version of the ArcGIS software that supports a specific functionality.
