Install the SDK

Download and install SDK

  1. Make sure your development computer meets the system requirements.
  2. If you haven't already, install Xcode, the defacto IDE for developing OS X apps. You can download Xcode from the Mac App Store or go here to learn about Xcode.
  3. Download and extract this SDK from the Downloads page.
  4. Make sure you have write permissions to the ${HOME}/Library folder.
  5. If you have installed a previous version of ArcGIS Runtime SDK for OS X on this machine, uninstall it. To uninstall, run the ${HOME}/Library/Application Support/AGSOSXRuntimeSDK/uninstallAGSOSXSDK script in the Terminal application.
  6. Double click the .pkg file to run the installation. In the installation wizard that displays, follow the on-screen instructions to step through the panels.
  7. The SDK is installed to the ${HOME}/Library/SDKs/ArcGIS/OSX folder. This folder contains two subfolders, one called Samples that contains a single sample and one called ArcGIS.framework that contains the API library, header files, images, localized strings, and more.
Note:

The ${HOME}/Library folder is hidden by default on Mac computers. Unhide it using the command chflags nohidden ~/Library/ in the Terminal application.

If you encounter installation errors, see the install.log file at /var/log/install.log for more information. A common reason for failure is the installation package getting corrupted during download. Try downloading the package again.

Configure your Xcode project

To start developing with the SDK you need to manually configure your new or existing Xcode projects or, if you prefer, use CocoaPods by following the instructions here.
