What is ArcGIS Hub?
ArcGIS Hub
Built on top of ArcGIS Online
Why use ArcGIS Hub?
Organizations need to connect people, trusted content, and activities around shared goals. Data and information alone do not create impact. People and AI need to discover information, understand its context, participate around it, and use it to take action.
ArcGIS Hub helps organizations achieve four common outcomes:
-
Discovery: Help people find and use trusted information
-
Transparency: Help people understand a mission, programs, activities, performance, challenges, and decisions
-
Coordination: Help people align around shared efforts, initiatives, goals, and progress
-
Participation: Help people engage, contribute, and take action
ArcGIS Hub brings together people, content, and activities to support these outcomes through audience-focused hubs.
Offering
ArcGIS Hub is available in two license levels and two deployment options - Esri hosted software as a service in ArcGIS Online, or self-hosted geospatial infrastructure in ArcGIS Enterprise.
| License level | Deployment | Core capabilities | Notable limitations or add-ons |
|---|---|---|---|
| ArcGIS Hub | Included in ArcGIS Online | Sites, pages, and Hub catalogs for trusted content discovery, reuse, dataset downloads, and federation | Core capabilities included with the basic license level |
| ArcGIS Hub Premium | Optional add-on for ArcGIS Online deployment | Adds Hub projects, discussions, events, community member accounts, Hub assistant (beta), and additional configurability | Requires Premium add-on licensing |
| ArcGIS Enterprise Sites | Included in ArcGIS Enterprise | Functionality similar to ArcGIS Hub at the basic license level | Does not include custom domains, catalog feeds, and anonymous downloads |
Developer workflows
ArcGIS Hub provides entry points for developers to start automating, integrating, and extending Hub resources and capabilities:
- Automate - Use the ArcGIS API for Python for repeatable workflows that create, update, and manage sites, pages, events, and related content.
- Integrate - Use ArcGIS Hub Search API to access Hub content and connect datasets with external systems and applications.
- Extend: Customize Hub pages or build custom web apps with ArcGIS Maps SDKs to reuse Hub content.
Developer Libraries
ArcGIS Hub offers developer libraries that help you interact with Hub resources. Using these libraries, you can authenticate and connect to Hub, create and manage resources, and work with key entities such as sites, events, initiatives, pages, and discussions.
- Hub.py - Python library for working with ArcGIS Hub resources and APIs. Coming soon.
- Hub.js - JavaScript library for working with ArcGIS Hub resources and APIs. Coming soon.
