Get a license

A production license is obtained in one of two ways:

  • As a license string:
    • You can get a free Runtime Lite license string by signing in here with your ArcGIS Location Platform or ArcGIS Online account.
    • You can get a Basic, Standard, or Advanced license string by purchasing one or more ArcGIS Runtime deployment packs.
  • From an ArcGIS account through user authentication:
    • Your app's user must be assigned a Runtime license by their portal's administrator. Your app's user must also sign in to your app using their ArcGIS account.

Production licenses

This table describes how to obtain each license level using either license strings or user authentication:

AdvancedArcGIS Runtime deployment packs are available for purchase.

ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1: sign in as a member who is assigned a GIS Professional Standard or GIS Professional Advanced user type.

Extension licenses

Runtime extensions can be licensed by using an extension license string or user authentication with appropriate entitlements assigned.

ArcGIS Enterprise 11.2 or newer: sign in as a member who is assigned an Editor or Mobile Worker user type and also assigned an Advanced Editing user type extension.
StreetMap PremiumStreetMap Premium extension licenses are provided on an annual-term basis. StreetMap Premium mobile map packages cannot be used after the license has expired.

Runtime license levels for ArcGIS accounts

Administrators of ArcGIS portals can assign ArcGIS Runtime licenses to ArcGIS accounts. This process has evolved over time. In ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1 and newer, licenses are assigned through user types.

ArcGIS Online

When your application users sign in to ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Runtime licenses are assigned based on user types.

User types enable all four license levels:
