The Utility Network Validate Network Topology widget allows users to validate dirty areas in a utility network after edits are made. Users can select a utility network when the connected map contains more than one, choose the current map extent or the entire utility network extent, and validate the network topology.

Examples

Use this widget to support app design requirements such as the following:

  • You want editors to validate a branch-versioned utility network after making edits and before running a trace.

  • You want users to validate dirty areas only in the part of the network that is currently visible on the map.

  • You want to notify users when topology validation is complete and enable the next step in their workflow.

Usage notes

This widget requires connection to a Map widget. The Map widget must be connected to a 2D web map that contains a utility network and its dirty areas layer.

To create a utility network and publish a feature service using an ArcGIS Enterprise deployment, follow the steps for utility network creation and configuration.

The network topology must be enabled before users can validate dirty areas.

The active portal user must have the required user type extension and permissions to validate topology for the current version.

The widget can validate the current map extent or the entire utility network extent. Validating the current extent is appropriate for focused editing workflows. Validating the entire extent is useful when users must validate all dirty areas in the utility network.

Validation can fail if there are no dirty areas in the target extent, the user cannot acquire a version lock, or the user does not have permission on the active version.

Settings

The Utility Network Validate Network Topology widget includes the following settings:

  • Source—Select a Map widget. The connected web map must contain a utility network and the dirty areas layer associated with that utility network.

  • Extent to validate—Choose Current extent to validate dirty areas in the visible map area, or choose Entire extent to validate dirty areas throughout the utility network. The default is Current extent.

  • Utility network—Select the utility network to validate when the connected web map contains multiple utility networks.
