In ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise, deploying a web application created in an app builder typically involves a two-step process:

1. Publishing a web app refers to making a web app accessible and available for viewing by others.

2. Sharing involves granting access to a web app through the sharing options provided by an app builder.

How to use

The high-level instructions below assume that you have already created a web app using one of the ArcGIS app builders.

1. Publish the app

   Once you are satisfied with the configuration of your web app, click the Publish button.

2. Share your web app

   Share your web app with others by making it available in your organization. This can be done by selecting the web app from your organization's content list and clicking the Share button.

3. Set sharing options

   Determine who can access you web app by specifying its sharing level. The options are:

   • Private: Only accessible by you, or by individuals in permitted groups.
   • My Organization: Only accessible to members within your ArcGIS organization.
   • Everyone: Publicly accessible outside of your organization.

ArcGIS Instant Apps

The steps listed below can be used to deploy your web app created in ArcGIS Instant Apps in ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise.

1. Publish your web app

   Publish your web app to make it available to your users.

2. Share your app

   Once your web app is published, share your web app with your users by providing them with a URL or embedding it within a website.

3. Maintain your app: As your web app gets used, you can monitor its performance, update its data, and make changes to its configuration using Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics.

ArcGIS Dashboards

The steps listed below can be used to deploy your dashboard created in ArcGIS Dashboards in both ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.

1. Save the dashboard

   Once you are satisfied with the content and appearance of your dashboard, click the Save button on the dashboard toolbar.

2. Share the dashboard

   You can share a dashboard from various locations, including the Dashboards home page, the My Content tab in your organization, and the dashboard's item details page.

ArcGIS StoryMaps

When you create a story with ArcGIS StoryMaps, it is automatically saved as a draft. Only you and others with administrative privileges can see the draft. Publishing is the step where the story becomes visible to a wider audience.

1. Publish the story

   During publishing, ArcGIS StoryMaps ensures sharing settings are correct and allows you to choose who can access the story. When sharing the story with Everyone, summary information is also made available for social media platforms.

2. Share the story

   In the Share panel of a story, choose the audience for the story:

   • Private: Only accessible by you, or by individuals in permitted groups.
   • My Organization: Only accessible to members within your ArcGIS organization.
   • Everyone: Publicly accessible outside of your organization.

ArcGIS Experience Builder

In ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise, the deployment process for a web app created with ArcGIS Experience Builder is different from the other app builders.

1. Save the web app

   Once your web app is ready, save your changes. The changes are saved in a draft status, and are only visible to the author and others with administrative privileges in your organization.

2. Preview the web app

   Click the Preview button to launch the web app in a new browser tab or window. The web app preview will allow you to review how your configurations are displayed.

   If changes are needed during the preview process, return to builder mode, make the needed changes, save the changes, and preview the app again.

3. Publish the web app

   Once you are satisfied with the web app, click on the Publish button to publish your web app. This step makes the web app available for sharing.

4. Share your web application

   After publishing, you can share your web application. Choose the sharing options that suits your needs:

   • Private: Only accessible by you, or by individuals in permitted groups.
   • My Organization: Only accessible to members within your ArcGIS organization.
   • Everyone: Publicly accessible outside of your organization.

Developer edition

ArcGIS Experience Builder developer edition provides an enhanced way for deploying web apps with added flexibility. While the save, preview, and publish process remains consistent with Experience Builder in ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise, the developer edition offers the additional capability to download a published web app and host it on your own web server. This approach grants greater control over deployment and enhances security measures for the web application.
