map image layer

A map image layer is a layer that can access and display map images that are created dynamically as users zoom or pan around a map view. It differs from a tiled layer, whose map images are pregenerated and are displayed as tiles in a layer in a client app. Use a map image layer for content authored in ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap and published as an ArcGIS map service to ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and Local Server.
