raster file

A raster file is georeferenced bitmap data. It can be a single, standalone file or a collection of files that work together. Raster files are typically used in offline applications. Examples include GeoTIFF and Mr SID. Raster files are used in applications built with ArcGIS Maps SDKs for Native Apps.
