ahead-of-time workflow

The ahead-of-time workflow is a process where a web map author defines geographic regions of a web map to be used offline. These regions are called offline map areas. ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise will use each offline map area to create an offline map and host it, ready for download. An application built with ArcGIS Maps SDKs for Native Apps can then download the offline map when connected to a network to use offline. The offline map can be updated according to a regular schedule configured by the web map author. This workflow is sometimes also referred to as the preplanned workflow.
