A map tile package, formerly known as image tile package, is a read-only data file containing static, pre-rendered map tiles. It is also known as a TPKX or TPK. It can be created by accessing a map tile service or ArcGIS Pro. It is often used in offline applications such as ArcGIS Maps SDKs for Native Apps, ArcGIS FieldMaps or ArcGIS Collector that do not have a network connection, as a local basemap in an offline map, or as a source file that can be uploaded by ArcGIS.com to create a map tile service. There are two file formats for a map tile package: TPKX and TPK. Both TPKX and TPK are supported by Native Maps SDKs and ArcGIS Pro. TPKX follows the Open Tile Package Specification.
