feature layer (server-side)
A feature layer (server-side) is a spatial dataset in a feature service consisting of features that share the same geometry type (point, polyline, or polygon) and the same fields. A feature layer is typically created by importing data in Shapefile, GeoPackage, geoJSON, CSV, and other file formats with data management tools. Client applications can query, edit, and display features from a feature layer. Feature layers are accessed by URL or item ID and are typically used to store real-world geographic entities such as fire hydrants, roads, or property boundaries.
