API key (legacy)

An API key (legacy) is a permanent created before June 2024 used for accessing ArcGIS location services. API keys (legacy) have been replaced with and can no longer be created as of June 12, 2024.

An API key (legacy) differs from a modern in the following ways:

  • An API key (legacy) does not expire.
  • An API key (legacy) can only be scoped to access and with a sharing level of private.
  • The scope of an API key (legacy) can be adjusted without invalidating the token.
  • users cannot create an API key (legacy).
