map image layer

A map image layer is a that can access and display map images that are created dynamically as users zoom or pan around a . It differs from a , whose map images are pregenerated and are displayed as tiles in a layer in a client app. Use a map image layer for content authored in or ArcMap and published as an ArcGIS map service to , , and .
