image service

An image service is a that provides functionality to store, process, analyze, and share . Client applications can use an image service to query, manage and analyze raster data, as well as display raster data in a map or scene. Image services can return data in two different formats as static tiles or dynamically created images. The data is managed and accessed with a hosted tiled imagery layer (item) or an hosted imagery layer (item). Image services are also used as input for raster analysis operations. They are typically created by using ArcGIS portal or ArcGIS Pro.
